Live-in and around-the-clock care are not the same thing
A live-in caregiver resides in your loved one's home — present through the day, sleeping there at night. The caregiver receives private accommodations and sleep time, and can respond if something happens overnight. For seniors who need steady daily support and the security of someone in the home, live-in is often the most comfortable and cost-effective way to stay home.
Around-the-clock care means caregivers working in rotating shifts, so someone is always awake and on duty — day and night. It's the right arrangement when a loved one is up frequently overnight, needs continuous supervision, or requires care a sleeping caregiver can't safely provide.
The honest test is what nights look like. Occasional help overnight fits a live-in arrangement; frequent or constant nighttime needs require around-the-clock coverage — because a caregiver who can't sleep can't provide safe care the next day. We'll help you think through which fits, honestly.
