I'm Scott Strachan, RN, BSN. I started as a private caregiver with Abby Services in 1997, became a registered nurse, and have led the company since 2007. Our founder, my father Tom, later leaned on Abby Services himself while living with Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia, so our family knows what it's like to be on your side of the call.
That experience helps us understand the real differences between companionship, hands-on personal care, respite, live-in arrangements, and recovery support, and helps you find a caregiver who fits.

Abby Services helps families connect with caregivers for companionship, personal care, activities of daily living, dementia and Parkinson’s support, respite, live-in arrangements, post-surgical recovery, hospital or rehabilitation discharge needs, and other changing situations.
Your cost depends on the caregiver you choose and the schedule you need. Most families working with Abby Services see a total of about $30–$35 an hour for 6–12 hour visits, $40–$45 an hour for 4–6 hour visits, and $24–$30 an hour for around-the-clock coverage. Yes. Families may begin with companionship or limited assistance and later need more hands-on support, longer visits, respite, or live-in arrangements. The client and caregiver determine the services, schedule, and terms of their arrangement.
Abby Services can begin discussing your needs promptly, but referral timing depends on the location, schedule, type of assistance requested, and caregiver availability. Delays often occur while families review and sign the client agreement or complete payment information, so finishing those steps promptly can help the process move forward. Families facing an upcoming discharge or surgery should contact Abby as early as possible.
These arrangements may be available depending on the client’s needs, requested schedule, and caregiver availability. Live-in care does not mean continuous 24-hour service and generally includes defined rest and sleep periods. Abby Services can discuss your family’s particular needs and help you understand which arrangement may be the best fit for your situation.
Abby Services reviews required registration documents, background screening results, credentials, training documentation, and other eligibility requirements before a caregiver may be referred to clients. Abby Services is licensed and regulated by Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and has maintained a strong record of deficiency-free surveys. AHCA establishes background screening, training, and registration requirements designed to help protect clients and support informed caregiver referrals.
