Trusted after-surgery caregivers for Fort Myers families

Fort Myers isn't just where we do business — it's where we live. Our office has been in Whiskey Creek since 2000, I live just off McGregor Boulevard, and over the years I've coached soccer and baseball, served as a Cubmaster and Scoutmaster, and sponsored local youth teams throughout the community.

Before founding Abby Services, I worked as a nurse in the Medical/Surgical ICU at HealthPark Hospital — part of Lee Health, and the same unit many Fort Myers families pass through after major surgery before heading home. I've seen firsthand what those first days and weeks of recovery actually require: managing pain, watching for complications, and helping someone safely regain strength and independence. That's the experience I bring to matching families with the right caregiver for a hospital or surgical discharge. We're a nurse registry, not a home care agency — we refer independently employed caregivers with post-surgical and discharge experience, and you stay in control of the schedule and how care is directed.

Local care, wherever home is in Fort Myers

Getting home from the hospital or rehab

A safe discharge is where recovery really begins. We help Fort Myers families arrange in-home support after a stay at Lee Memorial Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center, Gulf Coast Medical Center, or the Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Myers — including HealthPark's Medical/Surgical unit, where I spent years as a nurse before founding Abby Services.

Your caregiver can be there to help your loved one settle in, keep up with medication reminders, and manage day-to-day tasks while they regain their strength.

Fort Myers after-surgery care — common questions

We regularly help families arrange in-home support after a stay at Lee Memorial Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center, Gulf Coast Medical Center, or the Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Myers — including HealthPark's Medical/Surgical unit, where our founder worked as a nurse before starting Abby Services.

Best case, we like to have a day or two to prepare and match the right caregiver. That said, because we're a local Fort Myers service with caregivers already in the community, we can make emergent arrangements in as little as one hour when a discharge happens faster than expected.

It depends on the recovery. Many Fort Myers families start with a few weeks of support while strength and mobility return, then scale down as needs decrease — though ongoing care is available if recovery takes longer than expected.

Your caregiver can help observe and monitor the surgical site, reinforce existing dressings, manage drains, and record any changes — contacting your medical provider as instructed in your post-operative care plan. Wound care and dressing changes call for a higher skill level (RN/LPN-level training) than caregivers we typically refer provide. If your loved one needs that level of care, let us know, and we'll talk through the right fit.

That's common after surgery — needs can change quickly in the first few weeks. Being a Fort Myers–based business, we can mobilize a team quickly and adapt in real time as your situation changes, whether that means more hours, different coverage, or a different type of support altogether.
