Trusted after-surgery caregivers for Cape Coral families
We're not just referring caregivers to Cape Coral from across the bridge — we're part of it. We have a team member who lives and works right here in Cape Coral. My son earned his Eagle Scout rank with Troop 761 at Messiah Lutheran, right here in the community. Between Red, White & Boom, Oktoberfest, and just about everything else the Cape has to offer throughout the year, this is a community we know firsthand, not just a service area on a map.
My wife and I both went through our nursing onboarding with Lee Health, which included time at Cape Coral Hospital — giving us direct exposure to that location and firsthand familiarity with the broader hospital system that serves this area. My own clinical background includes work in the Surgical ICU, caring for patients in the most critical period immediately after surgery, and that experience extended to HealthPark and hospitals throughout Florida, including Tampa General. My father was also treated at Cape Coral Hospital himself, so this connection isn't just professional for us — it's personal. That range of hospital experience shapes how we think about after-surgery care today — we've seen firsthand what those first days home actually require, and what can go wrong when someone doesn't have the right support in place. We're a nurse registry, not a home care agency — we refer independently employed caregivers with post-surgical and discharge experience, and you stay in control of the schedule and how care is directed.

I got my start at Abby Services as a CNA, caring for clients directly, before working as a nurse in the Surgical ICU and later returning as an RN.

Cape Coral after-surgery care — common questions
We regularly connect families with caregivers after a stay at Cape Coral Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center, Gulf Coast Medical Center, or Lee Memorial Hospital — including the Surgical ICU, where I spent time as a nurse before returning to Abby Services as an RN.
Best case, we like to have a day or two to prepare and match the right caregiver. That said, because we're a local service with caregivers already in the Cape Coral community, we can make emergent arrangements in as little as one hour when a discharge happens faster than expected.
It depends on the recovery. Many Cape Coral families start with a few weeks of support while strength and mobility return, then scale down as needs decrease — though ongoing care is available if recovery takes longer than expected.
Your caregiver can help observe and monitor the surgical site, reinforce existing dressings, manage drains, and record any changes — contacting your medical provider as instructed in your post-operative care plan. Wound care and dressing changes call for a higher skill level (RN/LPN-level training) than caregivers we typically refer provide. If your loved one needs that level of care, let us know, and we'll talk through the right fit.
That's common after surgery — needs can change quickly in the first few weeks. Being a local Cape Coral service, we can mobilize a team quickly and adapt in real time as your situation changes, whether that means more hours, different coverage, or a different type of support altogether.
