LOCAL SENIOR CAREGIVER SERVICE HELPS LEAD THE WAY FOR MEDICAL MARIJUANA
Abby Services, a private caregiver service, is helping their patients curious about Medical Marijuana blaze a new trail through Cannabis education and advocacy.
FORT MYERS, FL.-August 24, 2018Medical Cannabis has been a taboo subject for many patients and seniors are no different. The stigma and misinformation surrounding this treatment has prevented many from inquiring about its benefits. However, through local legislation and patient education that stigma is slowly changing. Unfortunately, many are still left with unanswered questions.
Abby Services has witnessed this confusion and curiosity in the patients they serve. Abby Services believes, as one of our areas Senior Care Pioneers, that it is their responsibility to help clear up misinformation and help educate the population they serve regarding this treatment.
Per Scott Strachan a nurse and one of the owners of Abby Services, “We don’t think of ourselves as Marijuana advocates, we think of ourselves as patient advocates. Its all about presenting patients with choices and ensuring they are informed about those choices.” Scott is also pursuing a Cannabis Nurse accreditation through The American Cannabis Nurse Association to help better assist the patients he serves. Abby Services has also partnered with local experts including The Livingston Foundation, and The Iona Cannabis Clinic to deliver an educational Lunch and Learn series on Medical Cannabis. The first event will be held on Saturday September 1st at 11:30am at The Iona Cannabis Clinic located at 15260 McGregor Blvd Suite 100 Fort Myers, Fl. 33908. Seating for this event is limited.
